Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez won the accolade, conferred by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), for 2016 after a scorching start to the previous season for the Foxes.

Moses, having helped the Blues to the English Premier League title last season made the 30-man shortlist for the next edition of the continental award. William Troost-Ekong has been with other notable names like Eric Bailly, Christian Atsu, Vincent Aboubakar and Mohamed Salah.

There are a number of additional names from the French topflight, including Bertrand Traore, Jean Michel Seri, Yves Bissouma and Keita Balde. The winner will be decided by votes from the Head Coaches/Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF, members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee and a panel of Media Experts.

The Awards Gala will be held on Thursday, 4 January 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
