Having made little progress early on in the race, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who started in sixth place, really came alive towards the end of the race. Alonso had a good first lap, making progress and passing Valtteri Bottas, who had qualified an impressive third in changeable conditions, to be in fifth place by the time he crossed the line to start lap two. However, the Spaniard was unable to make any further progress until lap 30 of the race, which almost certainly cost him any chance to mount a credible challenge for the race win....

Cox pleaded guilty in 2012 for the May 2010 murder. The Associated Press reported that the Mississippi State Supreme Court set the execution date after Cox relinquished all appeals, calling himself “worthy of death” in court papers. “When I found out that he was wanting to go ahead and get it over with, I wasn’t really happy about it. Part of the company’s continuing plans to make things safer and easier for its customers, the new tool called Neighborhood Filter looks out for any phone numbers that are calling with similar area codes and numbers to your own. Once it detects one, it allows Verizon customers to send those calls directly to voicemail, meaning they can skip straight ahead to screening calls instead of having to deal directly with anything suspicious....

The news comes after many tentative plans by the firm. Back in 2012, Verizon Wireless (opens in new tab) announced that it would retire its 3G network by 2021 before revising that plan to be even more ambitious with an end-date of 2019. Obviously, that didn’t happen with the network continuing. Interestingly, as recently as January 2021, it looked like 3G was going to stick around for much longer, with an announcement stating that the cell phone provider was placing its closure plans on hold indefinitely....
